  • The Captain of My Soul Agriculture & Forestry Workforce Development Summer Camp is a free, hands-on educational experience designed to introduce youth and families to career opportunities in agriculture and forestry while building practical workforce skills. Taking place on June 6, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 3311 Judge Brown Road in Valley, Alabama, this one-day camp offers participants the opportunity to explore two engaging learning tracks. The Forestry Track will cover the history of forestry, environmental conservation, sustainable land management, and outdoor exploration of local forested areas. The Agriculture Track will focus on gardening safety, measurement techniques, essential gardening tools, and the hands-on construction and planting of a raised garden bed. Sponsored by Walmart and Alabama A&M University, this inaugural event aims to inspire the next generation of leaders by providing meaningful exposure to agriculture, forestry, environmental stewardship, and workforce development in a fun and interactive setting.
